Distinguished Members, Colleagues, and Ocean Science Enthusiasts,

As the General Secretary of the National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute (NOAMI), it is my privilege to oversee the administrative backbone of an organization that has pioneered marine science education in Bangladesh for over four decades. Our mission is to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application for a sustainable Blue Economy.

Institutional Governance & Transparency "We are committed to strengthening institutional governance. Our primary objective is to ensure administrative transparency, which is vital for the future growth and credibility of NOAMI."

In our recent strategic reviews, we have prioritized the modernization of our operational frameworks. We are actively working to update our registrations and digital presence to ensure NOAMI remains compliant and accessible. Furthermore, we are dedicated to maintaining the regularity of our flagship publication, The Journal of NOAMI, ensuring it remains a premier outlet for oceanographic research.

Our focus for the upcoming term includes:

  • Capacity Building: Launching new batches of GIS, Remote Sensing, and Oceanography training.
  • Field Research: Organizing regular field trips to St. Martin's Island and the Sundarbans.
  • Collaboration: Strengthening ties with UNESCO-IOC and national universities.
  • Youth Engagement: Expanding internship opportunities for young researchers.

I encourage all members to actively participate in our seminars and training programs. Together, we can build a robust knowledge base that supports Bangladesh’s socio-economic development through the sustainable exploration of our oceanographic resources.

Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Saiful Islam General Secretary, NOAMI
